TEHRAN (PIN) – The National Iranian Gas Company Managing Director Seyyed Reza Kassaeizadeh said the NIGC was delivering 20 million cubic meters of gas to power plants per day.

“At present, we are faced with no problem as we are producing 467 million cubic meters of gas a day,” said the official, adding the household sector accounted for the highest natural gas consumption.
The NIGC head underlined that gas supply throughout the country returned to normal and all provinces of the country including those that had faced disruption were provided with adequate gas through the efforts of NIGC and other producing companies.
Kassaeizadeh said the NIGC was to produce 30 million cubic meters of gas daily in the Iranian calendar month of Bahman (Jan. 21 to Feb. 19), however adding gas had been replaced with liquefied fuel through coordination of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company.
Hassan Torbati, the NIGC dispatching manager, said domestic gas output and consumption were at present nearly equal, warning that exports would be disrupted if the country witnessed weather conditions similar to cold snap in the few past weeks and household consumption soared.
Turkmenistan halted daily gas deliveries of up to 23 million cubic meters to Iran in late December, citing technical problems. Iranian officials say Turkmenistan wants to raise the price of its gas and have voiced increasing anger at the cut.
Iran, struggling with some of its coldest weather in decades, turned off its gas exports to Turkey on Jan. 7 to meet demand at home amid freezing temperatures.
